Tubertini UK Floats for 2012
Since Tubertini started the production of floats there’s been a continued and constant research that brought us to design and produce more and more functional items, thanks to accurate manufacturing process and very skilled staff. The flagship of the Float range is the 'Serie Pro' - the professional series, the Pro echoes the quality found in all Tubertini floats and those matched to UK fishing styles have been hand selected by Tubertini UK for import. The full range of floats can be found on the Tubertini Italy Web Pages in a PDF format.

Making the Tubertini Floats . . . .
Float design is the first step, the research is carried out by Ferruccio Gabba, thanks to his brilliant experience and as a former Champion, he knows the needs of competition anglers very well and also the different requirements within differing area of the competition field. When the design is set prototypes are made for testing and, if necessary, they will be modified until the outcome is perfect, only then do we start mass production.
![]() |
Raw materials used to produce our floats are balsa-wood and polyurethane. These materials are cut and reduced into blocks; each block is weighed one by one. This is very important with the Balsa since only the lightest and softest is suitable for our series Pro, the flagship of the Tubertini float range. |
Further on, there’s the turning, a process that is
completed by state of the art machines. Bodies and bulbs
are shaped by the use of an abrasive
grindstone. Then, on these bulbs a hole is drilled in which the stems (made of
steel, cane, glass fiber or carbon) are set and glued. The Gluing
operation is made using particular resins.
This operation is fundamental and if it isn’t
done very carefully (using the exact kind
of glue in the right quantity, and the skill of
placing the stem exactly aligned on bulb)
could jeopardize the outcome of the following
finishing phases.
The semi-finished floats after having been placed on the dedicated plate, are now ready to enter into the painting room. Floats are painted by immersion: now, by the use of colors, combining and during this very delicate operation the quality and the right density of paint is essential, as well as the immersion lift speed, the right drying times and the temperature inside the painting room which must all be constant and according to the float model.
![]() |
Once out of painting department floats are
marked one by one then manually
pierced again for the further introduction
of antennas which are carefully selected. Before
being set they are checked one by one
(rejecting the wrong ones) and placed on
plates to be painted with our fluorescent
paints so they are very brilliant and visible
in the water. |
At this point, after several finishing
operations, the careful and meticulous
quality control (checked float by float)
ensures that only perfect floats will arrive
to packaging and storage.
